A tradition. This year, on January 3rd, people will gather “pour tirer les rois” that is to say to “Find the King”.

Much more than just a cake, this pastry is a beloved tradition that traces its roots back to the Roman Empire.

The traditional galette is cut in a very specific number of slices: one slice for each person sitting at the table. Hidden in each king cake is the “feve”, a small lucky charm. The person that gets the slice with the lucky charm becomes “The King” for the day and wins good fortune (unless he bites down too hard) … but has to buy the next cake or host the next party…
